GreenGeeks Review 2026: Pricing, Features, WordPress Hosting, Pros and Cons

GreenGeeks is a web hosting provider best known for combining conventional hosting services with a strong environmental positioning.

Founded in 2008, GreenGeeks now provides shared hosting, WordPress and WooCommerce hosting, reseller hosting, managed VPS, dedicated servers and website-building services. The company says more than 55,000 customers use its platform across approximately 600,000 websites.

Its strongest differentiator is its sustainability model. GreenGeeks says it matches three times the energy consumed by its hosting infrastructure with renewable energy credits and also works with One Tree Planted to plant trees as hosting accounts are provisioned.

For buyers, however, sustainability is only useful if the underlying hosting product is competitive.

GreenGeeks currently combines cPanel access, its newer integrated dashboard, LiteSpeed-based hosting, SSL, CDN integration, WordPress support, security features and 24/7 human support with shared hosting starting at $2.95 per month.

The main pricing consideration is renewal cost. The discounted $2.95 price applies to the initial 12-month term, while the Lite plan currently renews at $13.95 per month.

GreenGeeks Pricing in 2026

GreenGeeks currently offers three primary Shared Hosting plans.

Plan Promotional Price Renewal Price Websites Storage
Lite $2.95/month $13.95/month 1 25 GB
Pro $4.95/month $18.95/month Unlimited 50 GB
Premium $8.95/month $30.95/month Unlimited 100 GB

The promotional prices require prepayment for 12 months.

GreenGeeks Lite

Lite is designed for a single smaller website or blog.

It currently provides:

  • 1 website
  • 25 GB web space
  • unmetered traffic
  • free SSL
  • CDN integration
  • cPanel access
  • WordPress support
  • application installer
  • developer tools

The promotional price is $2.95 per month and it renews at $13.95 per month.

GreenGeeks Pro

Pro is better suited to users operating multiple websites.

It currently includes:

  • unlimited websites
  • 50 GB web space
  • unmetered traffic
  • additional server resources compared with Lite
  • free SSL
  • CDN integration
  • cPanel
  • WordPress and CMS support

The current promotional rate is $4.95 per month and renewal is $18.95 per month.

GreenGeeks Premium

Premium is intended for busier websites and online stores.

It currently provides:

  • unlimited websites
  • 100 GB web space
  • unmetered traffic
  • higher server-resource allocation
  • premium SSL included
  • CDN
  • cPanel
  • security tools
  • WordPress and ecommerce support

Premium currently costs $8.95 per month for the initial term and renews at $30.95 per month.

For most users, Pro is likely to offer the most practical balance when more than one website is required.

GreenGeeks’ Environmental Approach

The environmental positioning is the feature that most clearly separates GreenGeeks from mainstream hosting competitors.

GreenGeeks says it works with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation to purchase renewable energy credits equivalent to three times the energy consumed by its servers and other hosting operations.

The company also works with One Tree Planted and says more than 50,000 trees have been planted since that initiative began.

GreenGeeks has also participated in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partner program since 2009.

This does not mean a GreenGeeks data center literally operates entirely from renewable power at every moment. The company’s model is based primarily on matching its calculated energy consumption through renewable energy credits.

That distinction is useful when comparing sustainability claims between hosting providers.

GreenGeeks Dashboard and cPanel

GreenGeeks has modernized its hosting management interface.

Customers now have access to an integrated GreenGeeks Dashboard where websites, email, WordPress installations, domains, databases, security settings and other hosting functions can be managed.

For advanced administration, traditional cPanel access is still available.

This gives users two levels of control:

GreenGeeks Dashboard for everyday site management.

cPanel for users who want more traditional hosting administration and advanced tools.

This is useful for beginners because they do not have to work inside cPanel for every task, while experienced users do not lose access to it.

WordPress Hosting

GreenGeeks offers WordPress-focused hosting using the same Lite, Pro and Premium plan structure.

The platform provides features such as:

  • WordPress installation
  • LiteSpeed caching
  • LSCache
  • CDN integration
  • SSL
  • security tools
  • WordPress management
  • developer access
  • website backups

The current WordPress plans start at $2.95 per month.

GreenGeeks can therefore work well for small business sites, blogs, publishers and other users who want conventional managed WordPress hosting without moving to a more expensive premium WordPress-only provider.

WooCommerce Hosting

GreenGeeks also positions its hosting platform for WooCommerce.

WooCommerce plans currently start at the same $2.95 promotional entry point.

For an ecommerce site, the Pro or Premium plan is generally more relevant than Lite because stores typically require more resources than simple brochure websites.

Buyers should consider expected traffic, catalog size, plugins and checkout workloads before choosing purely on price.

Hosting Performance Technology

GreenGeeks currently uses several technologies aimed at improving website performance.

These include:

  • SSD storage
  • LiteSpeed web servers
  • LSCache
  • Redis support
  • HTTP/3
  • current PHP versions
  • CDN integration
  • container-based account isolation

GreenGeeks currently advertises 99.9% uptime.

HowToBuySaaS has not yet independently benchmarked GreenGeeks over a long enough period to publish its own uptime or response-time result, so the 99.9% figure should be treated as GreenGeeks’ published service claim rather than an HTBS performance measurement.

Security

GreenGeeks includes several security controls with its hosting environment.

Current features include:

  • free SSL
  • firewall protection
  • network-level DDoS mitigation
  • malware protection
  • account isolation
  • two-factor authentication options
  • website security monitoring
  • malware cleanup assistance

GreenGeeks currently says its security team can assist with malware cleanup if a hosted website becomes infected, subject to applicable restrictions.

Backups: An Important Detail

The backup policy deserves more attention than the typical marketing summary.

GreenGeeks says it maintains disaster-recovery backups of its shared and reseller hosting infrastructure and aims to keep approximately 30 recovery sets.

Pro and Premium customers can directly access system backups for on-demand restoration.

Other customers are generally eligible for one free manual restore per month, with additional restores carrying a fee.

GreenGeeks itself specifically advises customers not to rely solely on its disaster-recovery backups.

For an important business website, we recommend maintaining a separate offsite backup regardless of the hosting plan.

Another important difference is VPS hosting. GreenGeeks’ backup policy states that VPS and Dedicated Servers are not automatically backed up by this system, so VPS customers need to understand and manage their backup configuration separately.

Website Migration: Check Before Purchasing

GreenGeeks promotes website migration as part of its hosting offering, and its current Shared Hosting page states that shared hosting includes free website migration.

However, GreenGeeks’ separate migration policy currently lists manual Shared Hosting migrations at $15 per website and says direct shared cPanel migrations are not available.

Because these two current GreenGeeks pages provide conflicting information, buyers migrating an existing site should confirm the exact migration entitlement with GreenGeeks before purchasing.

For managed VPS, GreenGeeks currently advertises free cPanel migration.

This is one area where GreenGeeks could make its public pricing and migration documentation clearer.

GreenGeeks Managed VPS Hosting

GreenGeeks now provides fully managed VPS hosting.

Current plans include:

VPS CPU RAM Storage Price
4 GB 4 vCPU 4 GB 75 GB SSD $69.95/mo
8 GB 6 vCPU 8 GB 150 GB SSD $129.95/mo
16 GB 6 vCPU 16 GB 250 GB SSD $179.95/mo

The plans include managed support, proactive monitoring and a cPanel Solo license.

This is an important correction to older GreenGeeks reviews that say the company no longer provides managed VPS hosting.

Reseller Hosting

GreenGeeks also remains relevant for agencies and businesses that want to host client websites.

Current Reseller Hosting promotional pricing starts at $19.95 per month on a 12-month term.

The RH-25 plan provides:

  • 25 cPanel accounts
  • 60 GB storage
  • 600 GB bandwidth
  • unlimited hosted domains
  • SSL
  • WHM access

Higher tiers increase the number of cPanel accounts and available resources.

This can make GreenGeeks particularly relevant to freelancers and agencies that want isolated hosting accounts for clients rather than placing every website inside one shared account.

Customer Support

GreenGeeks provides support 24 hours a day, seven days a week through:

  • Live Chat
  • Phone
  • Support Tickets

This is worth correcting on the existing HowToBuySaaS listing, which currently states that GreenGeeks does not provide 24/7 phone support.

That information is now outdated.

GreenGeeks says its support is currently provided in English.

Who Should Use GreenGeeks?

GreenGeeks is particularly worth considering for:

Environmentally Conscious Businesses

Its renewable energy matching and tree-planting program are unusually central to the hosting product rather than being a minor corporate initiative.

WordPress Users

WordPress support, LiteSpeed caching, SSL, CDN, dashboard management and cPanel make it a practical general-purpose WordPress host.

Small Businesses

The platform combines website hosting, domain support, email capabilities, WordPress and human customer support.

Agencies and Freelancers

Unlimited-site Pro and Premium hosting and dedicated Reseller Hosting options provide multiple approaches to client-site management.

WooCommerce Stores

GreenGeeks offers WooCommerce-focused hosting and Premium provides more resources for busier online stores.

Users Who Prefer cPanel

GreenGeeks retains cPanel while also providing its newer simplified dashboard.

GreenGeeks Pros

  • Competitive $2.95 introductory price
  • 300% renewable energy matching commitment
  • Tree-planting initiative
  • cPanel access
  • Modern GreenGeeks Dashboard
  • LiteSpeed and LSCache
  • Free SSL
  • CDN integration
  • WordPress and WooCommerce hosting
  • 24/7 Live Chat, Phone and Ticket support
  • Managed VPS available
  • Dedicated Reseller Hosting plans
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Developer tools including SSH, SFTP, Git and WP-CLI

GreenGeeks Cons

  • Renewal prices are much higher than introductory rates
  • Lite supports only one website
  • Premium renews at $30.95 per month
  • Backup access differs between plans
  • VPS backups require separate attention
  • Current migration information is inconsistent across official GreenGeeks pages
  • Support is currently English-only
  • Shared hosting is still subject to resource limits despite unmetered traffic

GreenGeeks vs Hostinger

Hostinger is generally more aggressive on introductory pricing and has built a tightly integrated proprietary hosting interface.

GreenGeeks retains cPanel and puts much greater emphasis on renewable-energy matching.

Hostinger may appeal more to beginners looking for an integrated website-building ecosystem.

GreenGeeks may appeal more to users who want traditional cPanel access and place meaningful value on the provider’s environmental approach.

GreenGeeks vs Namecheap

Namecheap combines hosting particularly closely with its large domain-registration business.

GreenGeeks differentiates more strongly through hosting sustainability, LiteSpeed infrastructure and its 300% renewable-energy matching commitment.

Both offer low introductory shared-hosting prices, so buyers should compare renewal pricing and actual resource requirements.

GreenGeeks vs Cloudways

Cloudways is managed cloud hosting rather than conventional shared hosting.

Cloudways offers greater infrastructure flexibility and scalability but starts at a substantially higher price.

GreenGeeks is the more straightforward choice for a conventional WordPress or small-business website.

Cloudways becomes more relevant when a business needs dedicated cloud resources, server scaling or developer-oriented infrastructure controls.

Is GreenGeeks Worth It in 2026?

GreenGeeks remains a strong option for buyers who want mainstream WordPress or shared hosting while also caring about the environmental impact associated with hosting infrastructure.

Its $2.95 introductory plan is competitive, and the platform includes many of the features buyers expect from a modern host: SSL, CDN integration, WordPress support, caching, security tools, cPanel and 24/7 assistance.

The sustainability commitment is its clearest differentiator.

The main drawback is pricing after the promotional period. Lite renews at $13.95 per month, while Pro and Premium renew at $18.95 and $30.95 respectively.

Buyers should also clarify migration terms and maintain independent website backups.

For a small business, WordPress site or agency that values both traditional hosting functionality and environmental initiatives, GreenGeeks deserves consideration.

Great host for small to medium sizes businesses.

    What do you like best?
They have good solid support, online chat as well as phone support that you can contact at all hours.
Review collected by and hosted on G2

    What do you dislike?
They no longer have a managed VPS solution. They recently removed it. It was not all their fault, based on the price changes by cpanel which is 3rd party server management software.
Review collected by and hosted on G2

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I use greengeeks for a shared hosting solution for most of my clients. Easy to use, solid pricing and phone support for my clients.

    “Great customer service and uptime”

    What do you like best?
The hosting is fast. Every time I have needed support I have received nearly instant response from the chat agent.

The bandwith and resource allocation work great for most sites using wordpress and drupal.

Email setup through cpanel works great and is really nice to have unlimited storage on the primary domain on my reseller account.
Review collected by and hosted on G2

    What do you dislike?
The firewall and IP blocking rules are a little strict for shared and reseller hosting. One of my clients needed to access their web app simultaneously with about 12-15 users. There was no performance issues with the hosting, but the firewall kept blocking their ip address. Greengeeks was not able to lift this rule for this client on reseller hosting.

I noticed that on the new plans for reseller hosting they have changed from limited storage space and unlimited cpanel accounts to a new model. The new model allows for unlimited storage space but the plan pricing is based on number of cpanel accounts. I don’t forsee any issues with this model for things like prototyping, but I believe it will increase costs for the reseller as new clients come on board.
Review collected by and hosted on G2

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Reseller hosting is the best by far I’ve used when compared to A2 hosting and hostgator.
Review collected by and hosted on G2

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Instant cpanel creation for prototyping websites and web apps. I’m able to have nearly unlimited projects in different stages of development with reseller hosting.

We have been using email through the reseller hosting for our company, as well as some of our clients. I think that the ability to set up email without any additional monthly costs is great
